I must say, participating in a food and wine tasting at the Summerhill LCBO was nothing short of glorious!!! While I have done chutney and cheese demonstrations in the past, nothing compares to the joy I felt when doing one at the LCBO. To quote a happy sampler, "It's like being at a cocktail party."I had the pleasure and honour of accompanying two Somaliers as they touted the beauty, fragrance and taste of two wines they would be promoting that day; one red and the other white, both from Argentina. Anthony Romantini and Alessandro Bonucci, while both very professional, to my surprise were hilarious men. The day flew bye, as it progressed from a fairly typical, to one wrought with comedic quips to the the art of doing"lounges." When I finally realized that Alessandro actually meant to say 'lunges,' on account of his Bolognia, Italian accent, I laughed so hard. Alessandro explained that during the later stages of any wine demonstration, he does these "lounges" to keep his leg muscles loose and his back pain free. I started doing it as well and before we knew it both of us were "lounging" and handing out wine and chutney samples. We were having such a laugh, some of our tasters were"lounging" and tasting as well.
Needless to say, the food and wine demonstration was such a success, the boys and I have consulted about doing this on a regular basis...not the lunges, but further demonstrations.
Amazing what can happen when you're eating, drinking great wine and "lounging."
Stay tuned for the next adventure another one of my wild chutney adventures.
Chris :)
